Co-founder
Onyx Coffee Lab

Andrea Allen is the Co-founder of Onyx Coffee Lab, the 2020 US Barista Champion, and the 2021 World Barista Champion Runner up. She believes that coffee is what brings us together, uniting every person along the supply chain, bridging gaps between generations, and creating the space where all great conversations happen. 

Outside of coffee, Andrea enjoys running, riding horses, and spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Jon Allen
Co-owner, Head Green Buyer
Onyx Coffee Lab

Jon Allen is the Co-owner and head green buyer for Onyx Coffee Lab. He spends about four months of the year traveling in search of the world’s best coffees, and when he’s not traveling, he’s head of creative direction and quality control at Onyx’s home base in Arkansas. 

Outside of coffee, Jon loves people, sports, and spending time with his wife Andrea and their two daughters, River and Abishai.

Hana Butler
Coach and Consultant
Nash Consulting

As a coach and consultant, Hana brings energy, creativity, and inspired vision for positive change to her clients and their world. With over 20 years leading and facilitating individual and group experiences, she helps leaders, organizations, and people find health, conscious engagement, and greatness in their personal and professional lives.

Hana lives outside of Leavenworth, Washington with her husband and two boys in a home space that stewards care of the land and provides abundance and adventure for her family.

Héctor Carvajal
Founder
Don Carvajal Cafe

Héctor Carvajal, founder of Don Carvajal Café, is a 27-year old Afro-Dominican entrepreneur on a mission to reimagine the specialty coffee market. He was born on a small farm in the Dominican Republic and returned there often while growing up in the Bronx, an experience that gave him a unique perspective on the coffee supply chain. After pursuing his education at CUNY-Guttman and the University of Rochester, Hector has returned to New York City to build a coffee business model that is both fair to producers and inclusive to consumers. In five years, he’s taken the brand from operating out of a dorm room to a nationwide distribution network.

Seth Godin

Meghan Higney

Message

Former CPG executive, Meghan Whitney Higney is the founder of Message, a footwear brand dedicated to bringing freedom to everyday movement by championing the slide with purposeful design. After a spontaneous trip to Portugal and an introduction to cork as a renewable resource, she was compelled to build Message.

Ejay O’Donnell

Ejay has over 20 years of experience in business operations and development, primarily focused on the printing and manufacturing industry. As the co-founder of Dad Gang Co., Ejay has demonstrated a commitment to social impact and community building. In his role as VP of Domestic Production & Supply at MiiR, he has further honed his leadership and operational skills with a focus on vendor and client relationships, high-volume sales, lean manufacturing, and employee development.

Bart Szaniewski

Bart is a seasoned expert in digital advertising, content generation, and influencer marketing. In his current role as co-founder of Dad Gang Co., he leads all marketing initiatives and helped successfully guide Dad Gang Co. to achieve Shopify’s 100,000 Order Milestone in under two years. He enjoys spending time with his two toddlers, going on long runs (often with Ejay), and exploring new content platforms.

Felix del Toro
Senior Vice President, Product
Outdoor Research

Felix is a global business, design, and style innovator. Leading cross-functional teams from sourcing and production to design and merchandising, he creates compelling and relevant products for a range of consumers. He has thrived in both large and emerging brands, from his current role with Outdoor Research to past roles with Lululemon, Fabletics, Athleta, and Calvin Klein Underwear. In his free time, Felix is a long-distance endurance runner, Leica enthusiast, and world traveler.

Location

Most of Summit will take place in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood at Block 41, an ideal setting for exploration and discovery in the heart of the city. The venue itself offers an intriguing blend of contemporary cool and industrial chic, and its central location makes the iconic Pike Place Market and piers along Elliott Bay all within walking distance.

Our first night together will embrace the outdoor scene of the Olympic Sculpture Park, featuring a diverse collection of contemporary sculptures and installations by renowned artists. This urban oasis promises a memorable experience that captures the essence of Seattle’s vibrant culture and scenic beauty.

Weather

Seattle in September is unbeatable. The city comes alive with stunning autumn colors, crisp air and comfortably mild weather, making it a favorite for both visitors and locals.

Average high temps hover around 70 degrees F with lows in the mid-50s. We will be spending some time outside so pack layers, comfortable shoes, and rain gear just in case. See FAQs for more.

Travel

Getting there by Air

From Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Block 41 (16 miles via I-5):

  • Prefer to Uber? Expect a ~25 minute drive from the airport
  • Prefer public transportation? Expect a ~38 minute ride from SeaTac on Link Light Rail (exit at Westlake Station) + ~10 minute walk (0.5 miles)
  • So as not to miss registration, we recommend arriving at SeaTac no later than 12PM PT on Tuesday, September 10 
  • So as not to miss any programming on Wednesday evening, we recommend departing for SeaTac no earlier than the morning of Thursday, September 12

We want you to be comfortable at MiiR X Summit and feel like you. Plan to pack the following (we’ve got you covered on the hydration front). Don’t forget to leave room in your suitcase for a few MiiR goodies to take home with you!

We recommend:

  • Sunscreen/sunglasses – September in Seattle can feel like a blissful continuation of the sunny, summer months
  • Layers – pack for chilly mornings and evenings
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Rain coat + umbrella – just in case

Anyone taking a spot at MiiR X Summit must commit to attending the full program. However, you are free to opt-out of any scheduled activities that are outside of your comfort zone.

We’ll miss you, but understand that life happens. If you need to cancel your registration, please reach out to us directly at miir-x@miir.com. Do note our cancellation policy below:

Cancellations made 30 days or more in advance of the event start date (Tuesday, September 10, 2024) will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations made 14-30 days in advance of event start date will incur a 50% non-refundable fee (based on registration ticket amount) less a transaction fee, unless we can fill your spot. Cancellations made less than 14 days in advance of event start date will not be refunded, unless we can fill your spot. Cancellations must be requested in writing by contacting miir-x@miir.com.
